Furniture: Malaysia's wooden furniture is appreciated all over the world. In 2001 Malaysia exported US$0.99 billion worth of wooded furniture to over 144 markets worldwide. Main importers of Malaysian furniture are the US, the UK, Japan and Singapore. In order to further expand exports to highly developed countries, Malaysia is currently improving its production process aiming to create higher value-added furniture with superior designs and better finishing. For this purpose over US$78 million are invested annually in new technologies and skill enhancing measures. Local furniture producers like Fella Design, Kian Furniture and Litako have already been successful in penetrating overseas markets and promoting the reliability and quality of Malaysia's wooden furniture. |
