Malaysia has successfully established itself as a major producer and exporter of rubber and rubber products globally. Main importers of Malaysian rubber and rubber products are the US, the UK, Japan, Germany, and Italy. In 2001, Malaysia’s total exports of rubber were valued at US$1.19 billion.

Finished rubber products include rubber gloves, footwear, tyres, condoms and prophylactic sheaths. Malaysian rubber is also employed in the building, contraction and automotive industry for a variety of uses. Malaysia’s biggest export product are rubber gloves, whereby Malaysia is estimated to control over 60% of the global rubber glove market. Well known Malaysian rubber glove producers include Top Glove, Oon, Comfit, Profeel, Dermagrip, Supergloves and RadiaXon.  

Local producers of  tyres and related products include Sime Tyres and Silverstone.

Malaysia invests heavily in research and development in the rubber industry in order to develop innovative and new uses for its rubber.
